Can we still use our li-polys in the winter?

We recently got a new apache helicopter and it uses a standard li-poly battery. The manual says not to operate the copter in less than 50 degree F weather.

Do you guys just not fly in the winter? or is this merely unnecessary fine print?
thanks for your opinions

Re: Can we still use our li-polys in the winter?

I have wondered about that also. One of my heli manuals states that too, but I have flown in 30 deg F wx many times. I have allways thought that electronics / engines like cool wx. I have only been into rc heli's about 6 months and I have been wondering about hot wx coming up this summer!

Batterys dont like the cold very much but if you keep them either in a warm pocket or a warm car until you want to use them they should be ok.

Cold air with a nice breeze makes for ideal flying conditions, dont know about you but my thumbs get very cold...must make a giant mitt
