Got a Falcon 3D for Christmas

I must say it flyes very well right out of the box with a nice stable hover but was alittle twitchy(no expo), However, the FM RX had some glitching so I replaced the RX and used my DX6. It came with several Z bend links which I will be replacing soon to take out some of the slop. The canopy was ugly so I painted it. all in all it's not a bad starter heli, I will fly it.
It reminds me of the Walkera 36 with some minor changes like motor placement and a gear drive tail. Here are some pics...

Re: Got a Falcon 3D for Christmas

I got the same heli, in the UK its called the Mini Predator. Its not a bad heli and seems stable enough...I didnt like the charger that came with mine...rubbish...no LEDs to tell you if the battery is charged or not...what a heap of junk.

For a cheap and cheerful heli with collective pitch its not a bad deal...I hear what you say about the slop and play. I packed the o rings out a bit in the rotor hub...made the response much better...and it flew inverted quite well. I would be wary of flying in too strong a breeze...thats my only warning. I have since moved on to the Trex 450...this is way ahead in terms of quality and capability.

I might fly my MiniPred one day, but for now its a paperweight

Coool, I plan on converting it to a true CCPM using Trex head system and the showgun belt drive conversion kit. but that's after I purchase the B400...

Re: Got a Falcon 3D for Christmas

i've had my falcon for a while now and still on first motor. Everything is stock and still hovers good. Head is pretty sloppy though. I'm thinking about a blackhawk 500 nitro. Don't know for sure yet. i replaced most z-bend with ball links. rc-groups.com has a very extensive thread on this heli. Most of the original owners have moved on to trex's though.

Re: Got a Falcon 3D for Christmas

You will like the Trex, which version are you getting?

The only fault I can find is the main gear, on mine which is the XL version the main gear has a habit of running against the tail gear spindle...check for this as it robs power.

You can, with some tweaking, adjust this so it doesnt do this.

Flightwise the Trex is like a Ferrari, if you can fly a Falcon ok then the TRrex is easy going enough...you will find it more precise and parts are not a fortune...upgrades are plenty. Its a different realm
