Re: 1 day away from first electric helicopter

i did notice that you just don't turn a helo like a plane. seems like a coordinated effort of both joysticks. maybe by the summer i can terroize the campgrounds.

Re: 1 day away from first electric helicopter

If you have plane experience then quite a lot is basically the same in forward flight. Yes you do need the rudder/tail control more doing a turn...the Helis tail will hang down as you turn otherwise...I have found heli flying has improved my plane flying doing this 'co ordinated turn'.

The hardest bit was getting the hover just right...anyone can fool about and let the heli drift...but holding a nice stable hover is the first skill. The transition into forward flight and vice versa is a bit tricky at first.

I used two 'models' on EasyFly (my first sim) one was a jetranger that was quite docile compared to the '3D' stunt heli...that was a jerky twitchy little feller that one

Once I mastered the jetranger model I kept at the 3D one till I finally got on top of it...then I went out and bought my first heli and radio gear...never looked back.

Rob

I like the planes...have a stunt one here that I broke a short time ago...I will fix it but enjoy heli flying more really.

Re: 1 day away from first electric helicopter

Fanx for the info park erm tel me tho what does a belt cp and lama v4 go for in the US? I thought it was rather cheap for both of them ? The reason i want to get both is that i get a sim with the v4. Belt cp go for 2300 rand and the lama for bout 1000 rand but hey i know the owner of the shop. I think its all about their shipping costs tho.

Its a 'technical' hobby, but pretty much anyone with interest will pick up the idea.

Half the battle is getting a heli to fly well...once you nail those principles they apply to most RC helis..so regardless of how far you want to go within the hobby...you will have a good working knowledge.

I am addicted to flying, try to fly most days if I can...got a Petrol engined monster and a little Trex 450XL...both are great helis. The Trex is a handy size to go fly on a football pitch...its not big enough to menace anyone plus its almost silent....sounds like a tiny turbine

Heres hoping you get addicted
