Esky v3 or v4, what are the real differences

I am interested in purchasing a couple of Esky v3's or v4's for my son and I to start enjoying some quality time together, I have read the information provided by some of the on-line resellers, but I need to ask the forum what the true differences are between the two models, do they use the same motors and electronics, do they perform the same, what do you recommend. I apologize if this question has been asked before but I didn't have time to search the old threads.

For esky V3, do you mean the Lama V3 (picture) and V4 is the Lama 4 (picture)? I yes, then they are similar helicopter. V4 is newer version and the design is a little bit different than the V3. Both of them are good for beginners

Re: Esky v3 or v4, what are the real differences

Twirlybird,
I cant speak for the V3, but I recently purchased a Lama V4 and knowing now what I didn't know then, well I would have purchased the Eflite Blade CX2 or the older version of that model (used the FM radio rather than the 2.4Ghz like the newer model). My friend from work has one and it is much nicer to control for a beginner. The Lama V4 is much harder to learn with in my opinion. The tail just drifts much more than the Eflite and is impossible to trim and get the tail to stop wandering. My friends CX2 is remarkable and the tail locks and holds real well. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask questions before purchasing.
Unfortunatly for me I didn't arrive here in the forums till after I purchased the Esky V4 Lama. Good luck with your persuit and sorry I don't have any input on the Lama V3.
Rich

I'm wondering the same as well, tossing up between the 2 lama's. There are more mods available for the v3 but the v4 looks a whole heap better.

I can tell you from experience with the Esky V4, I am not too happy with it.

I have flown the Blade CX2 and really like it.

Good luck !

I now have my sights on the new Blade 400 from Eflite.

So no one knows for sure what the difference in running gear is? Are parts other than canopy etc. interchangable?
