Piccolo or Hummingbird

I'm interested in getting an electric heli that I can fly indoor, backyard and in the park. I found AeroHawk, Piccolo and Hummingbird on the web. AeroHawk is the cheapest one but I worry about the parts availiablity and tech support since I can't find anything about the company Smartech on the web.
The Piccolo and the Hummingbird are equally interesting. Anybody has any experience with the Piccolo or Hummingbird v.II?
In short, I looking for something that it's easy to find parts and tech support when it comes time to fix it.

Thanks,

Tim

Hello tyeung

I'm probably Bias i have 3 FP fun piccolo's and one Pro setup
with All the Mods
most of them are pictured in the photo threads
i really like my heli's i started on my own and with help from the Ikarus BB
http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/ubbth...at=&Board=UBB1
the piccolo has Many mods
when you get to hover your going to want some
and they do get expensive Brushless motor / Li-poly batteries
don't think in any way that micro's are cheaper
i've heard the hummingbird is also a good entry level heli
they have not been around as long as the piccolo less mods available

keep it in the air

Potential new flyer

Like Tim I too am interersted in getting into flying Helicopters. I have scratch built a 7' tall sail boat and have a few 48" week eater powered R/C boats in the house with a few 18" long R/C motorcycles that have dynamic braking and scream.

Now I am interested in R/C Electric Helicpters. I got a Megatoy for Christmas and it just wet my appetite. I WANT TO HOVER!! The electrics can be flown indoors and I like that. I can clear out the garage and do some learning/training flights in there.

What I want to know is how do I get the the photo threads Turco mentinoed in this thread of documents.

Keep those recommendations coming for us beginers. We need all the help we can get.

If anybody knows of a Helicopter flyer near Jacksonville, Florida then please send them my e-mail address, tmartin32224@comcast.net. I would like to discuss this hobby with an experienced flyer.

Thanks again.

Tom

Photos awesome

Turco,

Thanks for the photos and links to the carbon fiber blade site and the Li-poly batteries web site. Your personnal photos are inspiring too. Who needs a garage to fly when you have a room.

This information just wets my appetite and initiates more queestions. Like which battery set gives the logest fly time for the best price? Being a Mechanical Engineer I still don't believe anything could flow through a solid like electricity through a wire. Give me a good old pipe and I will show you flow and how to control it. This Electricity thing flowing through a solid is majic. There are a lot of battery variations a the web site www.b-p-p.com/TIPS.htm for LI-poly batteries. What combination would be best for the Piccolo Pro?

Thanks again for any information you care to share.

Tom
