Pitch issue

While "flying" the Blade yesterday I couldn't get it over 6" to 1' off the floor. Decided to call it a day and put it up until I could figure out what the problem was.

Got it out today and done all the preflight stuff and everything seemed okay. I checked the blade tracking and that was alright. I decided to check the pitch and the gauge showed that the pitch was right on one blade. That blade checked out at 10 degrees at full throttle. Checked the other blade and found that it was only 5 degrees at full throttle. Actually only blade was giving lift. Set that blade at 10 degrees also and had no problem hovering at 5 to 6'.

Question. How could tracking be right and blades have different pitch?

Re: Pitch issue

The only answer I can come up with is a bent feathering shaft. This would mean that the blade with the pitch would lift to track with the blade without pitch.
But in honesty I don't know of anyone with +10 degrees on one blade and +5 on another with good tracking.

When you set your blades so they have the same pitch setting you nearly always get a slight bit of tracking that needs to be done. This done you will always have one blade at hover with slightly more pitch in it.

As long as you set your blade pitch to both blades and then when you hover you sort the tracking issue. You should then be fine through the rest of flight time.

Good luck.

Re: Pitch issue

All I can say is check the balance of the blades. Or smack Mr Murphy up side the head.

Re: Pitch issue

I might be asking a stupid question here, please forgive me if I am.

At what position around the rotor head are the blades as you check the pitch?

Re: Pitch issue

It doesn't matter as long as the flybar is parallel to the ground (level)

Re: Pitch issue

and the head/ swashplate is level. In other words it hasn't been left with any cyclic input on it, including trim. Just a thought ..

Re: Pitch issue

When you measure the pitch you are supposed to have the rx and tx on with motor disconected so that you can check it in varius throdle positions
