Should you oil electric motors?

I have been wondering if one should oil electric motor bearing in helicopters?
And if so,,, what oil should one use? How about oiling main shaft bearing?? I know I'm going to use heat-sinks on my main and tail motors. I have a Honey Bee Cp2 coming soon and I would like to keep it running like new. What else should one do to there helicopters? grease anything? Like hub.
Thanks .

Cool Re: Should you oil electric motors?

The motors usually don't require oiling-they use bronze or nylon bushings that are self lubricating. The motor brushes will wear out before the bushings go bad.As for oiling shafts and bearings,a non-sticky lube like graphite would be best so as not to attract dirt and grit.

well, just half a drop no more any more could cause shorting problems. (NO WD-40 EVER use better lube)

Gun oil would work if used sparingly-I prefer graphite lube available at any auto parts store.Graphite is used for locks because it doesn't get gummy like some oils do.

Re: Should you oil electric motors?

well I use pasode phumatic lube, it's good stuff. BUT it can collect dirt, so just keep that in mind. (it also has a tendency to gel spraypaint ) I hear teflon lube that you buy at bike shops is great as well.

On hot mod RC Car motors I use that teflon gun lube. I leaves a white resadue but it dries and will not collect dust.
