| HOVERFLY the best electric training heli out there Hello people, Let me tell you about myself, I am a 38yr old with lots of history in the model world. Dont get me wrong I dont know everything and dont pretend to. I do however know enough to help the majority of beginners in most things RC, I still enjoy Cars, boats, slope, prop driven aircraft and Heli's. I have some experience of flying electric heli's. This is mostly due to people in my neck of the woods asking for help with theres. Which leads me nicely to my post. I dont know much about the mods and the like for electric heli's being a nitro lover myself, But in the last few years and scince the intro of lipo batteries electric heli's have come on tremendously. They are now very respectable models and a lot of new pilots are taking the leap due to the revolution in electric heli's. This is now creating a problem, I am getting more and more people that are disatisfied with the lower cost heli's after they have bought them. They find that they dont get more than a couple of minutes flying/crashing time, They end up spending lots on repairs in a short time. They get very frustrated that the heli's are somthing they will never learn to fly. If they are not crashing they are buying replacment parts or worse glueing broken ones, Or they are charging batteries that dont last long enough. They have to learn how to setup the heli's which are not the easiest things to set up. ALL THEY WANTED TO DO WAS LEARN TO FLY, and have fun. So heres the thing that you people that want to learn to fly need to know. Heli's are complicated they do require a lot of learning to fly they do require you to learn how to set them up and they do require you to be able to spend money on repairs, charging constantly, waiting around. NOW I have had lots of people (Freinds now) invited round my house. Why? Because there is a heli that can cut out the pain of learning to fly and save you money in the shrt&long run. I am including a clip at the end of this that demonstrates its flying ability. What you need to remember is that there is no setup required other than pluging it in. They are all tested at the manufacturers so they fly straight out of the box. They dont require charging as they run off mains and come with the only battery needed supplied. There is a full parts support available on there websight if you need them, The one thing you will need will be props. But dont let that decourage you. A packet of them lasted my son when he was learning 6 mounths. My hoverflys have had plenty of crashes and they have never broken anything that stopped me being able to carry on flying. You can fly as long as you can concentrate, Because of this you learn faster. The inputs controls are exactly the same as you use on the bigger models and the heli flys as well as you can fly it. Now the best bit, The Hoverfly is easily the cheapest learning tool that flys out there. I have looked and wouldn't entertain recomending anything that comes close price wise. Most of the other heli's out there are just designed to take your money and then have you replacing parts taking more money. NOT the hoverfly, It is what it is, and thats worth every penny paid and more. Look at the clip, If you do take the plunge write and say what you think. IF you need any advice then just ask. I would rather see you learn than get cheated out of your money. It seems that I can't get the clip uploaded. I will post some pictures of my son learning to fly my first one instead. | Re: HOVERFLY the best electric training heli out there well i would try less parts and less $ easy Hover with the Bladerunner at about $70US. my 7 yr old son is flying this bird all over the livingroom since last Xmass ... parts are cheap. charger is in TX flies indoors about 5-8 minutes... my son has been touching the cieling then Cut throttle and let it drop to Floor..hard on it but few bits of clear tape on blades he still flies it today. i have not baught no replacement parts yet.. but it does need new blades maybe this Xmas santa will provide.... here is a pic http://parts.rctoys.com/rc-toys-hobbies/Items/360005? keep it in the air Turco

| Re: HOVERFLY the best electric training heli out there Nice little toy the bladerunner. Problem with this heli is that it is not capable of sliding left and right unless it is a result of air movement or main blade yaw. I can see how it would get your son flying as mine is. The diference is that I have given my son control of my nitro heli and he has been able to fly it. The bladerunner would be an exellant heli if it was able to fly like all other collective Pitch heli's but it doesn't. It is good but as a training heli to help you move onto nitro heli's or large electrics I would not go that route. the point to the thread is that it is a heli that flies for unlimited time and is exactly the same control wise as the bigger heli's. Its control inputs are the same its reactions are the same. It is created by a company that gives great parts support. It is a heli that I have 2 of because it is so good for the money. One is mine, the other I use to show my mates that want to get into bigger heli's (when they try it they usually by there own). Fly this heli and you will be able to cope with the other models. FP/CP/elec or nitro. It is still the cheapest electric that can do this by miles. My own son is my proof to those that visit. What more can I say. You Keep yours and I'll stick with the Hoverfly. 1 more point. The fact that the Hoverfly takes some learning to fly it. Shows that it requires you to learn the input skills and means that if your flying it in forward flight and can hold it in a hover. You have the skills to go on to the bigger heli's safely. I give this advice already knowing about the Bladerunner, And whilst the Bladerunner is a very stable hei and I don't doubt that it is crash resistant I dont rank it as a training heli. If you want to fly heli's and move on to bigger models then buy somthing that is going to help you advance. Not somthing that will give you confidence then put you in a place that your not equiped to be. That advice is there now weather you take it or not is up to you. I wont loose any sleep over it. For those that want to argue the cost of heli's to fly. You can make a heli for about £3 with balsa and elastic and foil. wind it up let it go and it will fly and land upright. But it wont give you the skills to move on either.
