Blade mCX

I was at my LHS to buy a new battery for my CX2 and had a chance to fly the mini blade. The mini heli was very stable( almost boring) and held its altitude better then my CX2. A total hand off of 30 seconds was possible. I was able to get 8 min around the small shop with no mishaps.

I found forward flight behaves like my CX2. FF is more like a pendulum motion that requires timing with the stick to get a somewhat steady movement. However it felt better with the mini. I think most dual rotor machines do this. It is so light that typical crashes don't phase the little machine. The battery sells for about 12 dollars. That means long flight sessions can be had at a reasonable price. Not sure how long cool downs between flights will need to be.

The battery and connector are small so care must be taken when connecting. It is a great indoor heli that I will be getting for my kids this season. My 15 year old daughter was able to hover right away in the shop with no previous exposure.

If the mCX can hold up over a reasonable amount of time without needing to be completely replaced, it will be very popular.

Re: Blade mCX

Its an interesting niche, the Picco Z is a popular little heli but I cant be bothered with it as such because the controls are not that good.

Maybe its a matter of time until something does come out thats Picco sized and has 'real' controls.

Very true though that the smaller and lighter the heli the tougher they seem to be.

hawkman..I agree with you about the controls. It was a little boring, but there is a market. The true enthusiast would be bored fast, but since it could even be flown in an elevator, the enthusiast can us it between 3D sessions; like at the office. It would be exciting to have full 3D in such a small package!

Re: Blade mCX

I bought my boy one and it is freaking great. My CX2 is way to big for my small house.
This little copter is so easy to fly and way more stable than my CX2.
I have a lot of fun flying it indoors since I can't fly my CX2 inside because it is to loud and kind of unstable with everyone watching TV. But the MCX is the perfect indoor heli for a small room.

Re: Blade mCX

Imagine flying something a bit larger flying about in the house like a Trex 450.

I reckon its not far off, the picco size heli with real controls....at a crazy cheap price.

Re: Blade mCX

Lightning Power 130mAh 3.7V li-po for Blade MCX

Has anyone tried these yet? Will they last longer with more recharge cycles or give long run times?

I have noticed shorter run times with my e-flight batteries over time but I have run them down more than once.
