Re: Any one out there!

Well.....all rc heli sites have 'ebbs and flows' with activity. It might well seem that no one is about but why not try starting a subject?

What helicopter do you have? how long have you been flying?

There you go

Re: Any one out there!

I Currently have a CX2 but desperately want something for outside, it's so nice these days. I too noticed that the forums were pretty slow these days.

Wink Re: Any one out there!

Great! I'm glad that you guys chimmed in on this forum. I didn't see much movement in the last week or so. Anyway I'm a newbie to flying and to this forum. I got my CX2 from an ebay auction that I won about 3 months ago. I've enjoyed learning to fly (and crash in doors:cool). I've added all of the aluminum upgrades including the CB boom and ultra flex skids from BoomTown (also won on ebay). I've drill out my RX and the canopy of the body. I really love the way this bird flies, although I still have some TBE going on. The inner and outter shafts have also been replaced, but it still flies pretty eraticlly. I've made adjustment to the "pot" and "gain". I've learnt just to fly it with whateven the RX and 3 in1 dish out. I guess that in the long run it may make me a better flyer and not just a hover'r. In the future I plan to get a Blade 400 or a Trex 450. But that won't be for at least 6 months to a year. Need to practice on my sim a whole bunch more.

Re: Any one out there!

Yeah, I'm thinking of getting the 400 as well. My birthday is comin up soon so I'll keep my fingers crossed. My friend is lending me realflight G3.5 tomorrow so I'll use that everyday for now and keep the cx2 in the air as well. I was having a crazy shake and low low battery times with the cx2, found out the rear most servo was dorked. Since I changed it everything has worked perfectly!

Re: Any one out there!

If the CX2 seems to wander about a bit too much and not in any one direction:

Try adjusting the flybar linkage...if the flybar is out of track then this would cause all sorts of wandering about.

Apart form that it could be down to turbulance...most of these helis are flown indoors in average size sitting rooms...I say average...but you know what I mean.

The Trex 450 series are very good helis....they cope well with a breeze and are quality units...upgrades are many if you want to bling it.

I have an XL HDE version, I dont fly it now beacuse the radio gear needs changing to 2.4 ghz as I am getting fed up with radio 'noise' off the motor and ESC unit.

If you get the Rex then get good gear for it...like a decent charger for the batterys...and get good batterys too...cheap ones can ruin your day.

One golden bit of advice too...most allen screws which are meant to be 1.5mm...arent! they are 1/16'' size...makes a massive difference when you are assembling the items. And more importantly when you need to take things apart to either repair or maintain.

Get good on the Simulator....its a handy tool for learning...its hard enough with setting up the real model to fly along with dealing with any problems..and learning to fly at the same time just makes things very difficult.

Heard some good things about the Blade 400, could be a good budget machine...whatever you get just make SURE you can get the parts if and when you need them...nothing is worse than scarcity/rarity of parts.

Oh...and make sure to make a training hoop for your heli...just plastic tubeing...form a circle....about the same size as the rotor diameter...then use sticks...lash these to the hoop in such a way that they cross the skids...where they cross the skids use elastic bands to fasten...voila! one VERY useful training aid...I still use one on my gasser heli if I am testing a gyro or when doing a lot of 'nose in' hovering at low level..just helps save the heli should I make a silly mistake.

Re: Any one out there!

Hey hawkman, what's go'in on.

Okay, my CX2 still wanders around alot! I've changed out both inner and outter shafts with no help. But I thought that the linkage on the flybar was used to adjust the track of the upper blades? Not sure what else could be contributing to this problem.
