Xtreme Blade Problems (Blade CX2)

Recently I bought the Xtreme Blades upgrade for my Blade CX2. Since I put them on the helicopter won't fly correctly. Once it leaves the ground it will heavily sway forward, backward, left, and right and is impossible to control. It also will not fly higher than about 2 feet from the ground. I screwed the blades in so they are tight enough to hold up on their own, but have enough play in them to straighten out when spinning. Also, the blade tracking is perfect and I've tried making all the trim adjustments, but nothing seems to make a difference. If I put the old blades back on it will fly just fine. Is there something major that I'm missing here? Thank you in advance for your help!

Re: Xtreme Blade Problems (Blade CX2)

Did you put the upper and lower on ?? On the lower ones I had to use the old swash linkage and had to bend open the hole a little to get it to slide. then had to adjust the servo pushrods a little to get the swashplate to work...
On the upper one I had trouble getting the flybar to be free ? The linkage was tight and the blades were real tight. Needs to be real free to move... and one more thing they will bend in a crash, my upper was bent and had to take the needle nose and fix them.. and one more thing make sure you put a little lock tight on the screws, mine came out in the air..

Yes, I'm using the uppers and the lowers and they installed very easily without any problems. The hard blades I'm having the problems with are from boomtownhobbies.com. They're listed as "Xtreme Alum. Blade grip combo" if that helps any. My outer shaft was bent a little so I replaced it with a new one today, but it's still having the same problems. Has anybody else seen this with the hard blades? So far it appears that most people install them and they're good to go.

i had similar issues when i installed mine. at times it would start out fine but then it would wobble on spool up and flop over in any given direction. the only thing that stopped this was to loosen the blade grips almost totally. this lets the blades find there balance naturally. now it hovers nicely and flies fairly smooth. in some respects it handle much more stable than before. still, this heli is strictly an indoor bird! less there is ZERO wind.

Re: Xtreme Blade Problems (Blade CX2)

Hey, thank you for the help! I had them set totally loose once before and it didn't work, but I now found that I had a bent outer shaft at the time. Since I've replaced the shaft I'll try loosening them up again. Hopefully that will help. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Re: Xtreme Blade Problems (Blade CX2)

yeah i just through mine back together today. at first the blades were just a barely tight. and on spool up, the ship wobbled like crazy. had to look around the ship a bit just to figure what the deal was. but, it was the blades. they were just tight enough to hold there position
and not fall around. i think they flop back just a bit on spool up and get hung in a bad spot throwing the whole rotor mast out of balance. at any rate i loosened them and she flies as smooth as she ever has.

Re: Xtreme Blade Problems (Blade CX2)

I loosened up the blades so they now move freely. It helped a little bit, but this thing is still way out of control once it gets up in the air. For example, I was just flying it a minute ago and I gently pulled back on the right stick and the helicopter nearly pointed its front end straight up before crashing to the ground. I haven't made any adjustments to make the helicopter more sensitive to controller inputs. Does anybody have any other suggestions?
