time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? ok i've probably been flying a cx @ 100 flights now. fun little ship but im starting to lose my patience. the wind dictates your ability to fly at all! the ship wont just fly forward it has to do that rocking thing! what is that? that kills me more than any other thing! in forward flight my ship travels along say 25-30 feet then slows, noses up and stalls before nosing over to do the same thing over and over! kinda regret putting money into upgrading it. anybody els experience these things? is it just time to get a cp ship?

Re: time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? You are expecting an indoor type heli to do something it never will. If you are in this hobby for a long time...ie you are bitten by the bug...then get something like a Trex 450...any of the series are good. I fly a 450 XL which performs very well. I fly a large petrol heli as well but I cant really use it where I work...hence the Trex. These helis arent the cheapest, the basic airframe is but you need the proper radio etc...and a decent charger...and decent batterys..it goes on and on...to a degree. If money is tight, get something like a Belt CP...hear good things about this heli. Beware of anything that 'rivals the Trex' its utter rubbish...if there is a serious contender out there they dont tend to boast...because they dont have to prove anything. I got a Mini Predator a while ago, its called the Falcon 3D or something like that in the USA...not a bad heli in its own right...but the radio leaves a lot to be desired. In fact any package deal 'flys right out of the box' radio system will be barely enough. You see what I am saying? Rob

| Re: time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? i've had my falcon 3d for around a year and it still flys good even after a couple crazy crashes. Radio and electronics passable at best. But i would tend to skip over any heli with a tail motor and move on the heli with belt or gear driven tail. Easier to fly and your not always chasing the tail and replacing tail motors. i had a honeybee cp2 and it flew alright but the tail was really twitchy could never get it to hold like my falcon does with the hh gyro. But in the end it will come down to money so you will have to decide. Good luck!!

Re: time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? Yes, the tail motor idea sucks....there are versions that have fixed pitch main rotor and tail motor with fixed pitch. They are hard to fly and any breeze soon puts them down. You can get CP type with tail motor as well...I just dont see the point of that. You want belt or shaft driven...they are both good. The belt just does away with a cog thats all...just make sure its not too tight a tension. Shaft or wire drive is ok...easier to set up in some ways...once its set you shouldnt need to touch it again...just make sure the cogs have a bit of play...very important: If a belt or shaft drive cog system is too tight you get friction...which robs power. Good luck with your choice, the Falcon is not bad....but rickety when compared to other helis...the Trex is like a Ferrari ![]() Rob

Re: time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? how about something like a blade 400, same size as a 450 rex for half the cost (I know they're not equal quality wise) upgrades are available too Robb

Re: time to move on? cx to cp any thoughts? i'm really focused on the honeybee king and the belt cp. there is one sweet looking little heli new on the market thats got my eye. copterx 200. but, its a total ground up type project. naked frame. needs all elects and power system. pretty cool though small as a cx, belt driven tail and all aluminium frame rotor head and tail drive. with my limited experience and 3 kids budget i'm thinkin e-sky
