Blade 400 Throws A Feathering Shaft

Hello everybody i was flying my blade 400 for about 2 weeks now i've had other heli's before this one but got rid of them and got into nitro trucks now back into heli's so to make a short story long i ran about 12 batteries thru it this last time was big suprise bang all hell brakes lose i go to throttle up and the feathering shaft comes apart throwing the blades to either side of my living room almost hitting me.wrecking two servo,blades,grips,links feathering shaft,ect i think for the money your getting a real good radio and a so so heli the servos in the first place seemed a little weak to begin with. i'm not bashing this heli i still think it's great for the money but i would be more carefull with it and really check it over and anything that don't look right fix and use some locktite on it.

This just shows that if its factory built, assuming this is the case, then these things should be taken apart and checked....or at least once you get over the initial excitment of the first flight...then check it over..really it should be done before.

I had a close call with a 30 size nitro heli, tail blade grip was getting wobbly. Turned out that the factory fit left a loose nut within the grip casing. Anything that turns and is under a load should be checked over.

By the way, be sparing with locktite, its good stuff but dont get carried away. Use the blue stuff....red can get really nasty and refuse to 'let go' when you want to take it apart.

note: if the allen screws are looking a bit worn...ie some kits have 1.5mm allen screws...but they are actually 1/16 size. I have found this with some models.

Pays to check ove the heli after flying, this way you get to see whats wrong and fix it before the next session....leaving this till the last minute is asking for trouble...most of us I would think, are a bit impatient and want to fly

My experience has shown that if you look after a model ,and dont push your luck if somethings suspect....ie land and check it out...then a model will last a long long time.
