Thumbs up New blade 400 settings that worked

Purchased the girlfriend a blade 400 Tuesday, was setting everything up for her based on the LHS guy that had one. D/R 40 Expo 40 the thing flew crazy, I fly a 30 size nitro and thought if this is the way the smaller helis fly you guys will be pros with the bigger helis! Then started setting it up the way i fly mine except for a few minor things, D/R 90 Expo 20 and changed the pitch curve to hover a half stick instead of 3/4 but didn't change the throttle curve, This gave a lower head speed and a nice smoooooth hover in normal mode. She took it out and was able to hover in a slight breeze with no problem. Right out of the box its a really nice heli just needed to level the swash plate a little and away we went. I would not advise flipping the idle up mode when set up like this for it will jump through the clouds and crash and burn. (but for her starting out just hovering is all she neaded to get hooked!) She has only had a little time on the sim and was use to the controls of no D/r or expo. I flew it first after i set it up and man what power to weight ratio, Stable enough to let go of the right sticks and move very little. The price for everything to get in the air out of the box with tax was $497.00. Not bad for a package deal that will almost fly right out of the box. Dilbeck.

Up date on settings. Found a glitch if you set the D/R to 80%, The servos set to 80 will twitch all of the sudden for no reason, you will be flying along and boom its like someone hit the heli with a stick or something. It took 2 near misses for me to figure this out. This may be just my radio or servos i dont know yet.

Thats interesting, I have a Trex that glitches like a sonofabitch...for some weird reason if the humidity is up and its looking like rain the glitches go away...

I dont have dual rates set as such...might look into this.

Heres hoping your Lady gets hooked!!! then she will understand your passion for this hobby

Located the problem, Its the tail servo, And its on expo. If i set the expo to anything over +8 it causes all the servos to twitch at the same time. Set it to INH and their are no problems. now thats strange, Chris from horizon said a short from 1 servo will effect thim all for they are all connected electricly.

Hi Dilbeck, yes considering all servos draw power from the same source, if one shorts, the others will lose power as well. I joined this forum at the recomendation of another guy who said they are explaining the Blade 400 problems on here & may I say what a great job you are doing, I am a newbie with R/C heli's & like your methodical work through, it is really helping lots of people by the looks of it. So Eflite are aware of the problems with the Blade 400, are they going to issue a service note or anything to help us poor souls that have shown them support by purchasing their heli??

Keep up the good work & this is a great heli forum.

Regards
Ross
