Post blade cp+ upgrades

I just got the blade cp+ over the holidays and am working on hovering. Now i was wandering if there are any upgrades that really make a big differance when first starting out?

thanks

Re: blade cp+ upgrades

Nigel,
Like you I'm also new with R/C heli's, and I picked up a blade cp+ just before Christmas. I'm lucky enough to live just outside Kingston where Ontario's largest hobby shop is located and they have a lot of parts and products they could push on me, which they didnt. Basically, from what I've been led to believe, the cp+ is good enough for a beginner right out of the box (it's actually a little to much for some beginners) but if a newbie feels the need to upgrade a good place to start is with the Bell mixer assembly, this mixer is of better quality than the stock unit and allows the aircraft to "right" itself faster after any maneuvres are performed which in turn gives for better control.

From the looks of it there are tons of parts to upgrade to but the majority are aimed toward increasing the acrobatic capabilities of the machine. I'm going to be a little more leary about dumping to much money into mine right now and just focus on improving my own capabilities,(my next purchase is going to be a simulator) later on IF my blade survives I'm going to start looking into increasing my air time with a brushless motor (they don't over heat like the stock unit) and a larger capacity battery (from 800mh to 1300mh).

good luck
Robb

Re: blade cp+ upgrades

I would say get a better charger and extra batterys...and dont use the batterys till they die either...once that heli starts to lose power..land the thing and let the battery cool a few minutes before recharging.

Do get a sim if you dont have one...they pay dividends on your flying progress...even a basic sim is better than none at all...if you are a purist then good luck...I have huge respect for those who acheive this...but for me life is too short. I used a sim for 10 months before touching a real rc heli...sure glad I did the time. I have never looked back.
