My CX2 only last 5 min on batteries?

Well I bought some mega pro or something batteries that I have seen recommended. I got 3 of them. So with those 3 and the e-flite battery that means some good flying time. That was assuming I would get 15 min a battery.

Well I was getting 15min a battery until suddenly I am not even getting 5 min a battery. The light starts to turn red after about 3 min. Well I thought it was because the new batteries I bought were bad but it does it on the battery that came with it also.

So, I was assuming that it was the charger that is going out. But I checked the batteries and they all were charged. So, on to the next thing. I have crashed this thing a lot. The inner shaft is bent, the outer shaft is bent, the fly bar is slightly bent but I kinda fixed it. The CX2 sounds loud in the air. Like there is some drag on it. So, I am guessing that with the gears not hitting right underneath because it is mis aligned then that may be causing more friction and the chopper is running out of power. Is this possible? I also just put on some training things.

Thanks, Jason

Friction will rob power for sure...I would remove the motors...and spin the rotors and see how they feel...you could use some light oil to make things run easier...and get those shafts as straight as you can.

Batteries? I can see your point on getting loads of flight time but those motors are not the best for long flight times....they get hot and performance dies quickly.

Hovering is demanding on the motors...forward flight will increase cooling a bit.

I would wait for the motors to cool down between battery changes...and when you fly practice landing and allowing the rotors to slow...play a game or something....my favorite was to land...spin around and then do a rolling takeoff...be careful not to put the heli on its nose though!!!

I own a Twister Bell 47 which is the same concept as the heli you have...real bargain for what it is.

Another thought:

Once the power starts to die, the heli loses power slightly...land and let the battery cool...and charge...LiPo's DO NOT LIKE being discharged too much...they will get ruined.

Treat them well and you will get loads of charges out of them.

Re: My CX2 only last 5 min on batteries?

I am having the same problem with mine, I thought I had over drained the battery's so I bought a new one yesterday and charged it. Today when I flew my CX2 the red light came on after just a moment and I lost power to the point where I could not keep it in the air. It doesn't sound overly loud while flying and there seems to be no other problems...Does anyone have any ideas as to whats the problem?

Update. I am still having the same problems. I am getting 6 min max flight time. That is it. I have replaced the upper and lower shaft and the gears.

I have found the stock E-Flite battery to be a POS. 6 minutes on it is about right. I bought a couple of DN Power batteries (850mah, 15C). Now I get about 10-15 minutes. Much better.
