Re: The N00B!

This is how addicted I am to this thing right now. OK so the break on the counter weight holder broke in such a way that it was easy to CA glue back together. Yes I know what your gonna say, but I had to try it. I know I had some battery left from when I crashed, so I plug it in and slowly increased the throttle until it lifted off. Of course I had to unplug it to reset it as it was turning to the right. I plug it back in and continue on... slowly increasing throttle until lift off. I only had it about 2"-3" off the ground just in case something decided to break loose. FWD... BWD... LEFT... RIGHT... YAW L & R... no sudden movements though. Well I was able to hover for about 4 mins and the battery made me land. I have the aluminum upgrade shaft and balance holder on it's way, so I will have to work on my hovering until the parts get here.

WARNING AND DISCLAIMER!
I do not recommend any inexperienced person like myself try this as fast moving parts can be dangerous when the cob job falls apart. This also could cause a very large dent in ones wallet too

I've glued my CX blades together and I also glued the flybar holder together. But I hasten to say... I wouldn't do that sort of thing on my larger helis.

Re: The N00B!

Will the BCX work with another radio? of course it would be on the same freq... My radio is 72Mhz on channel 19.. can I use another 72mhz radio while using the same crystals from the stock radio? I do this with my RC cars and trucks...

Are the radio/crystal concepts the same on the ground as they are in the air?

I want to get a radio that I can change the modes on.. which I think is part of my problem... I plan on making the helicopter hobby a long lasting one

Re: The N00B!

The transmitter and receiver have to agree on the type of transmission (PPM or PCM), the frequency, and the number of channels. The low cost units that I'm aware of use PPM because it's simpler/cheaper. I don't know if there is a way to change the mode on the inexpensive transmitters. There might be a jumper wire on the circuit board to set the mode, but perhaps not, and without any documentation we wouldn't know what to do. However, if you don't mind doing some soldering, it ought to be possible to swap the wires from the control sticks to the circuit board and accomplish the same thing.

Re: The N00B!

I went outside today with my BCX... That heli is not a big fan of outside is it? Well I crashed when a breeze came through. It wasn't all that hard or anything, that I thought at least. Well back to the garage

Re: The N00B!

No, even a little wind is pretty terrorizing for these small helis.
