Metal Tape Shield 4 In 1 Controller !! Can you use Metal tape to shield a Honey Bee or Blade Cp 4 in 1 controller? I have been having some trouble with my Honey Bee I was thinking it might be getting hit with some kind of interference. So I have put some metal tape around it to try to shield it from arcing or what ever it is. Also do I have to ground it?? To make the metal tape to work as a shield? And if I have to ground it,,, how? or where ?Thanks DCT

Re: Metal Tape Shield 4 In 1 Controller !! Horrible Idea you dont want any metal on your blade near your reciever or your antenna . Infact you want to shield your antenna from graphite and other wires if possible . Check to make sure your antenna os not cut and them rout it cleanly away from graphite and metal . They come stock wraped around the landing gear legs thats not so good to start with . I picked up a deans ant and used lexan and made a antena wrap and mounted the deans antena out the back . good luck ...............................................................T

Re: Metal Tape Shield 4 In 1 Controller !! I still have the stock ant. on my Blade CP, but relocated it to the front of the rcvr so that it wasn't folded back on itself. To accomplish this, I took a 2-1/2" x 1/8" dia. plastic tube and wrapped the ant. around it like a coil. Each end is heat shrinked with 1/4" pieces to hold things in place. I then located this assembly directly under the center of the rcvr pointing straight out front. About 3/8" clearance is left between the canopy and the ant. assy. I have absolutely no interferrence or glitching with the configuration. The effectiveness of the antenna is actually increased because the rcver "sees" the antenna sticking straight out front at it's full length. With ant antenna wrapped around the gear as it's purchased, the radio range is effective cut off as if you snipped the wire 3" from the rcver. This can also allow reception of stray RF if you are flying in a "noisy" area. Happy Flying!!!
