Thumbs up Newbie Noob

Hello,

Just purchased a cp yesterday....i am new to this whole scene but thought it would be fun to try it out. My first thoughts were that this looked like a good heli so the guy at the store conviced me to buy it.

I took it home and at first couldnt get the thing to work properly, it wasnt responding to the controls...so after about 2hours i figured out that i had a couple of problems 1. interference 2. not turning the remote on before i plugged the copter in. So now that i have that taken care of i have questions.

should the heli take off straight up? cause mine seems to lean to the left and since im doing this indoors i always end up hitting somthing. Good thing i bought the crash kit. (iv already gone through the ski's.

also i live in canada is there a good site to buy replacement parts from , any that you would reccommend?

what should i buy? also i have RC flight sim software but i dont have a cable to hook up the remote the the cp came with. Where can i buy the cable i have the reflex software.

thanks

Re: Newbie Noob

Firstly if you have never flown a heli before then I would suggest that you get your simulator sorted out and some hours flying on it before you try your actual heli again.
If you had read the information here you would see that in hands that are not capable of flying these things even a indoor fixed pitch could have your eye out if your not fully aware of the inputs needed.

Now then, concentrate on getting your simulator up and running. The XTR leads can be purchased from here
https://www.inpro.dyndns.org/reflex-...d28b2b7f2eb8c2

the heli's do take off and lean to one side depending on the rotation of your main rotors, If you main rotors travel clockwise then the heli will try to drift left on take off and in hover, this can be trimed out with a little aileron input. the opposite drift occurs with a rotor that turns anticlockwise.

As for where to buy parts what heli do you have?

Just a suggestion, if your completely new to helis, DO NOT try to learn inside unless you have at least 15ft area like a garage. If you try to start out in the living room your going to break a lot of stuff.

I haven't received my Blade CP yet but I've done a lot of homework on helis and found that Radd's School of Rotary Flight is very helpful on learning how to fly a heli. His lessons can be found in www.dream-models.com.

Re: Newbie Noob

paradigm,

The E-flite transmitter needs a special cable available from this site (this is the one that I bought) at about $45

http://milehighwings.com/usb_cables.htm

It is of course the one labeled Blade CP.

I use the Clearview simulator for $30 online. They have a demo- you might want to check it out. This is all I ever used to learn to fly. I think it looks and acts great! Several sceneries (particularly the GYM) and I think it acts like the heli (well, maybe a little smoother)

http://rcflightsim.com/cvweb1/main.jsp?page=videos.html

They do not have a "Blade" model but have an electric micro that simulates just fine from my pint of view. You need an Opengl driver for your video card though.

The importer of the E-flite Blade is

http://www.horizonhobby.com/

So they really are the main resource (I think all Blade dealers get their stock from them) They also have tech support, etc. and are highly customer friendly and deliver fast. I use them for all of my spare parts (there are many in my case )

Re: Newbie Noob

Don't forget to purchase the training gear before you seriously get into practicing your hovers. These $15 aids will help alot in preventing premature blade strikes into the floor while you are learning the lift-off phase. I probably would have had to replace my Blade countless times if I were trying to fly without the training gear in the beginning. Good luck, take your time getting to know this fine machine, and enjoy that fact that you are getting a whole lot of bang for your buck with the Blade. Happy Flying!!!
