I tried this one today, weather outside is rainy, so couldn't go to the field and fly fixed wings. Anyhow, what I was looking for is more power without converting over to brushless. This hop-up doesn't cost anything and works out really well!!!
If you have upgraded to the 350/370 on a 9-tooth pinion, try advancing the timing on the motor by about 10 degrees. The stock motors for these helis, and the upgrade, are gear drives. For proper rotational direction, they are operated in reverse, therefore the timing is off by 10 degrees. Here is how you do it.
Remove your motor. There are 4 crimp taps on the capaciter side of the motor. Pry these out just enough to where they aren't applying pressure. Unsolder the filter capators from the motor case. See the red dot above the black wire, this is your reference point. Take a pair of snap ring plyers and rotated the end of the motor clockwise till the red dot has moved about 1/4" clockwise from the starting position. The plyers fit into the two holes outside the slotted holes near the center. After your satisfied, resolder the capacitors to the motor case. Your motor is now advanced 10 degrees and is ready to be reinstalled. Don't worry about recrimping the case tabs. This position won't change over time.
I've used this methode on my fixed wing airships where a gear box is used. Nothing but satisfaction for doing this little bit of work.
Two bennifits - more rpms are available and amp usage goes down a couple of amps because the motor doesn't have to draw as hard as before.
