Thumbs up Blade CP Minor Mods

I'll make a couple of posts on these mods because of the length.

I was having minor problems maintaining the perfect "throttle setting" while hovering. One click on the txer was either just too much or not enough to maintain a proper hover. Talking with a few of my local heli guys and I was able to get the idea that the Txer that comes with the Blade could have the pressure clip removed from the throttle axis. Rushing home and 4 screws later, the back cover is off, 1 more screw is removed and the offending clip is gone. While the cover was off, I had stumble onto the fact that when originally assembled, one of the trainer switch wires had been cut by a back cover screw. Fortunately I didn't have a use for the trainer switch.

With the clip gone, it is much easier to maintain a hover as the throttle settings can really be finessed without the ratcheting effect of the clip. Don't be affraid to give it a try. Also, while you are on the transmitter, try installing a Futaba style txer flat-pack battery. You'll be able to fly for hours on one charge. Polarity on the charge jack is wired for JR type chargers, the jack diameter is also JR, so consider this for rechargable packs. Happy Flying!!!

Thumbs up Re: Blade CP Minor Mods

I was concerned about snaging the rcver antenna because of the way it is routed on the skids. Here is how I solved that non-problem: Cut a 2" piece of push-rod guide tubing, drill a hole 1/8" from one end just large enough for the rcver wire to pass. Run wire thru end of tube and out hole, positioning tube about 1-1/4" from rcver end of wire. Shrink tube that end, just covering wire. Proceed to wrap the remaining wire around rest of tube without crossing any of the wraps. Secure end of wire with small amount of cello tape and trim off excess tube. I then mounted the antenna assembly right under the rcver with servo tape. When the canopy is re-installed, there is 1/4" clearance between the canopy nose and the antenna end. This methode prevents having to solder anything and may increase the range as the wire isn't folded back upon itself numerous times as the factory installation. Happy Flying!!
