Blade CP !HELP! trimming

Hi, I'm new to the sport & I purchased a Blade CP to learn on. No matter what i do i can't get a steady Hover, even indoors. I try to trim L,R,U,D put she always goes back & to one side, what puzzles me is that it don't lean to one side or tip back it just flys backwards & to one side. Please help! I'm dying to learn how to fly this thing.

Thanks in advance

Re: Blade CP !HELP! trimming

Hi,

It doesn't sound like the problem you have is that bad.

Firstly while your trying to hover the heli you say that it is moving back and to the side. Set the heli down and use your trims on your radio to reduce the amount of drift that you have in the hover. You can adjust the trims a couple of clicks/beeps each time you adjust them. When you finaly have the heli more stable land it. Look at the position of the servo horns and the control surfaces attached to them.
Now you need to adjust either the linkage rods or the servo's so that the control surfaces are as close to what you saw earlier only now with the trim tabs moved back to centre.

If you do this you should see the heli hover more controlled than it is at preasant. You will always need to add inputs to the radio to hold any small heli stable. They wont stay at a stable hover for long when put there.

This in mind good luck have fun.

Re: Blade CP !HELP! trimming

your heli is always going to want to slide to the left, you will find that once you reach a stable hover that it is leaning a bit to the right. This is because of the tail rotor. because the TR is compensating for torque it has to push air via its blades. At a stable hover the heli would slide to the left,so u need to have it a tad bit leaned to the right this is called translating tendancy.

Re: Blade CP !HELP! trimming

One thing I noticed with mine when starting out is that the skids off the ground doesn't mean there is enough lift to be in a "stable" hover. I had to reach a particular rotor head speed before getting in a stable hover. If what DAZ and Th-67 posted doesn't help you, this factor might be all that's left to get you going. Happy Flying!!!

One trick I learned on the head speed is to lower your pitch on both main blades a couple of turns. This will allow the rotor to spin up faster with throttle before the collective starts pitching the blades.

I also picked up this magazine. VERY informative for beginners and looks to be a great magazine. I would recommend any beginner subscribe to this one.
