Carbon fiber blades...

Well, I flew all three of my blades today. Each one has flown a total of four times each. Each one was purchased as I would crash to keep myself flying as I would rebuild the other. I only made it up to three so I must be figuring some things out... after two and a half months and total rebuilds of each they are all flying perfectly. Now I am doing upgrades and one of them was carbon fiber main blades. I really like them but for some reason that heli is much more touchy to fly...? They are balanced well and tracking perfectly. Will upgrading to Lipo's help? (is it a headspeed issue?) Also, I was wondering if it is just me or are the Blades overly challeging to fly??? I have 100+++ hours with the G3 and I fly the Dominion 90 pretty darn good including nose in hovering to four points and 3d like a mad man!!! But in real world with the blade a nose in hover is a scary adventure (not to mention brief)!!! Anyone have any thoughts...

3 blades huh? Damn... But not a bad Idea though. From what i understand with the Carbon Fiber you need the enhancment kit and lipo power. You need that full 11.2 volts or so. That is what i have done so far though i have not gone Carbon Fiber Blades yet. Also on a side note the guy at my LHS told me that he flew with the carbon fiber but hit the tailboom in a crash and the blades survived like a champ but the tail boom and main frame had to be replaced. I think he said the replacement cost for the parts was like 50 bucks or so. As I saw in the post I set up you are thinking of going nitro, from what i hear they run great and the nitro engines are cleaner and built differently then a Nitro for a RC Car. Have fun and good luck hope this helps

I had to keep flying so as I repaired I needed to buy one to keep flying... thankfully they are cheap! I am flying stock batteries with the carbons and it seems to have higher heedspeed and therefore better control. But! I did have one tail boom sliced off by the carbons. The plan is to upgrade to Lipo's as soon as the hobby shop tech makes me comfortable with the the chargers and procedures that come with the Lipo batteries. I already have enhancement kits for the trio. The LiPo's are the last of the upgrades as I plan to sell two of the blades to make room for the nitro.

Re: Carbon fiber blades...

I just grabbed a set of CF Blades the other day. They work great with LiPo's. I use a 3 Cell 1500mAh batt and before I had to trim all the way up then use 80% power to get off the ground. Now it jumps up in the air with around 70% with the trim all the way down. I had some problem with the wood blades running the LiPo's. One little nick and every thing would break apart. I caught a gust in my back yard right before take off and the blades were grinding away on cement with out a problem (First try with the CF blades). After weighting them I found I was very lucky. They were still balanced with very little physical damage. It was only the ressin and not the Fiber. LiPo's and Carbon Fiber make a great upgrade. I would suggest using heat sinks with the CF blades. My motor gets much hotter now.

Re: Carbon fiber blades...

Your Blade will be more sensitive using the CF blades and stock motor battery set-up. Just not enough voltage to get the head up to that perfect rotation speed. The lower speed means a more unstable hover/lift which appears to be "more sensitivity". Upgrading to 11.1 v lipos and heat sinks is a must with the CF upgrade. Happy flying!!

Re: Carbon fiber blades...

I'm new to this whole thing, but it seems to me you guys are saying that having the extra speed/power of the "upgrade" (motor, heat sinks and battery) and cf blades makes it easier to hover, is that correct?

its near impossiable for newcommers like me to fly off stock parts
and the brushless +esc motor makes an awesome upgrade
and the lipo and cf blades "cut air more percise" i guess makeing more lift...
alls i know is i will work for parts!!!
lol
im working for that alu main blade assembly and brushless motor+esc
2 good worthwhile updrages in my book...after i broke that plastic **** hey call main blade assembly
