Newb with a Century Hawk

Hi there, I've been pottering about with a thirty sized helo for a while and just bought a century hawk with a 52 engine in it.
I cant find any refrence to it on the net they seem to have 40's in them.
Is this engine ok in this model and where is the best place in the UK to get all the parts i need to get it flying?
Also im currently useing an old Futaba FF7 set and was thinking of getting a modern radio and servo set, can anyone recomend a good [simple] radio?

Thanks RH

Re: Newb with a Century Hawk

Wow!!! should have some poke in it with a 50 size engine.....theres no reason why this engine shouldnt be ok.....it will have tons of power for sure....the only downside is fuel consumption.....but then if it flys really well then what does it matter?

I fly a Hawk Sport with an os 32 which is a little underpowered really....could do with an os 37.....its a great heli which is easy to look after and easy to repair too. Century UK are the folk you need to find....try the web.....going to century USA is a waste of time.....parts are cheaper direct but what a hassle trying to get them they are probably fine if yo uare a dealer for them......so go to the UK reps.

Radiowise....I own an old ff7 futaba....its quite charming but lacks the features of more modern radios.....I use a Futaba FF7 CHP....its a computer radio which provides a lot of features for a very good price....maybe over £200 but it will do what you need it to do....and then some....like it can support CCPM and ECCPM...the older type ff7 wouldnt be capable.

The newer FF7 is easy to use.....read the manual....and you can get a book dedicated to this radio too....'computer' stuff is really quite easy....its more 'dial and select' than anything.

Youve got a good heli there, Century UK should be able to help....try www.revolutionmodels.co.uk I shop with this firm and the service is extremely good....and you will be hard pressed to find lower prices.

Let me know how you get on, I would be intrested to see how she flys with such a big engine.....should go like a rocket

Re: Newb with a Century Hawk

Is it a 4 stroke engine that is in it ??? if so get shot of it and get a two stroke engine in it to begin with and change the gearing back

I will not say anything good or bad about any of the modern Radios that are around other than i use a Futaba 9C and it does me just fine LOL

Midland Heli's also carry the complete line of spares for the Hawk Range and can be Cheaper than Century UK
