Century or Bergen ?

Hey all, Anyone have thoughts on century condor VS Bergen Intrepid gas eb The century is $500 more but it would seem that the Bergen would be of higher quality, any thoughts on the subject would be great for i can only have one, thanks clint

I would go higher quality, if you are keen on the hobby and want the best, and the backup is good regarding parts etc...then go for the Bergen.

I own a Predator with 231 gas engine, its good but I am not that impressed with some things...like the tail rotor shaft and hub. they are more suited to a 50 size heli...its the shaft/hub interface I dont like. The condor might be slightly different, I dont know. I hear the Condor can lift quite a load.

Have you flown a gasser before?

Re: Century or Bergen ?

No I havent but noticed right away that i like the bigger heavy helis, im a scale type flyer spool up, ease up to a steady hover, ease in to fast ff flight, come up to a hover turn around right back at me, pull up into a hover and so and so on. Although impressive im not much into 3D flight, doesent look real. kind of like a boat crusing around on its nose and then flip over to its side. The riders would fall out, Real helis cant do those tricks without killing the people aboard. I watched the 3D flyers and was boared after 5 min but watched a scale like flyer cruse around for 30 min and could not get enough. Anyway cant wait to finish my scale twinstar just for fun and move into a Bergen gasser. What a RUSH. clint

I am the same, stunt flying is hard to do...and more risky as well. I wouldnt like to push the Predator I have too much like that....it can do the stunts but as its so heavy and fast its dangerous.

I would like a scale canopy for the Predator, Jetranger looks pretty nice.

You will like a gasser, they are steady and loads of fun....no messing with starting battery and motor and glo plug stuff...just prime and pull the cord.

Be careful of batterys though, typical digital servos if you fit these, the demands are quite high so a good capacity battery is a must....you can buy an onboard generator system. this will keep you flying all day as long as the TX battery is good capacity.

checkout YouTube

enter 'predator 231/falklands' and you should see my little film...enjoy.:~)

Re: Century or Bergen ?

Hi Park, thanks very much. I was a bit nervous with the flying....concentrating too much on the camera. The trick is to forget that and fly the Heli instead.

I do like the Predator, there are one or two items that could do with improving but otherwise its a solid machine.

I am thinking of revising the camera mount a bit more, try to cut down on vibration...but
