Ridding your nitro or gasser from vibration

Thought I would toss in my 3 cents about this subject. First thing i learned about nitro helis is that the design of mounting the engine directly to the frame will result in the engine vibrating anything thats connected to the frame. Thats everything! As with a car motor mounts are used but the frame is connected to the ground via the tires and this gives the vibration a place to go. With helicopters their is no outlet, no place to go. Bolt your heli to the ground and spool it up, Most of the vibrations will be sent to the ground. I have been trying to reduce these vibrations with trial and error and came across a way by accident because i am systems design engineer for a home theater company which also sales car audio. The car audio department uses a product called (HushMat) to eliminate speaker panel distortion, squeaks, rattles, vibration and the like. This stuff really works, I took apart my heli and applied hushmat to the main frame, survo tray and all sides of the fuel tank except the back(so i could see how much fuel i had left)Just to start with to see what effect it would have. Check this out, No more fuel foaming, Tail gyro worked better, must be better on the electronics! Just a idea and am no way affiliated with them just buy it from them yourself. 2 12in x 12in sheets for $20.00 usa. I think it would be great for my scale heli because the fiberglass is so thin. Just a note ( vibrations are one thing and wobbles are another) you most get your heli ballanced to get the full effect. A wobble is something out of ballance like a celing fan or too much weight on one side. Get rid of the wobbles and all you have left is the vibrations!!! Then you will have a fine tuned machine.
