Predator tail issues

Hi there....been busy rebuilding my Predator...last night I noticed something quite important.

In the build instructions you will notice two small washers...or shims....they are located between the brass tube that slides onto the tail output shaft...within the gear box....I noticed that if I closed the two gear box halves there was a gap....so the shaft and its spacers were too tight....this has started to ruin one of the bearings....the outer bearing....because of too much load on it....getting rid of the shims produced a smooth running gearbox.....so if you have a predator and are having issues like you think the tail drive/main gear is too tight etc....then take a look at the tail gearbox....the shims are there for adjustment....I realise this....but the instructions are very vague about this....I was used to building 30 size helis which presented few problems.

Dont get me wrong....I like the Predator....flys well and is cheap to run...and all at a sensible price....but do be careful in the building process....I have only flown one hour and twenty minutes with mine....and really like it.

Another point? dont be hasty with the locktite!!!! use sparingly....those tiny set screws are a ***** to get out otherwise....invest in some good quality allen keys too.
