| Hello all I just got a hummingbird V.3 from my wife for my 37th birthday Are the Hummingbird heli's fixed pitch or collective pitch heli's?. I have looked all over for some clue about it but have had no luck. Thanks JD ![]() Last edited by heavymetal92 : 02-23-2007 at 04:16 AM. Reason: forgot one word |

| Re: New member with a Hummingbird V.3 Hey JD, V3 is a fixed pitch heli. Very nice machine, though a little twitchy outside if there's any kind of wind. I've had mine for about 6 months now. Highly recommend starting out with the training gear. It's saved my blades a bunch of times If you're looking at collective pitch they make a CP and the Elite 3d pro in the same scale as the V3. Larger ones as well if you're interested (and if you're anything like the rest of us, you will be ). Check out Century.com.Feel free to fire away with any questions - I've broken about everything on mine I could except the blades ![]()

| Re: New member with a Hummingbird V.3 Hi, The hummingbird is a very nice flying heli even in the fixed pitch version it is one of the more stable heli's indoors. Hummingbird comes in both fixed and Collective pitch. So you'll just have to keep on wondering. As far as I am concerned you have got a winner in a fantastic wife as most wont buy there husbands a heli Even if it is Fixed pitch it will still be a lot of fun and help you on the way in the hobby.Just take it very easy at first and get the feel of it slowly. The best advice for this is, If you have a solid flooring in the Kitchen or living room. Start the heli up on this and get it just to the piont where it starts to want to move. Your task in the beginning is to keep it on the floor whilst useing the controls to keep it in one place. If you find that it does not want to play just try adding a little more power and get it a little more light. When you are sure that you have gotten used to the reaction of it then you can go for your first few hops, For your first few hops you want to get it so that it is light and then give it throttle to lift it a bit. Remember to control the heli straight away by giving inputs, If it gets too high then bring the throttle down and it will fall. from that point it is all down to how comfortable you are with it. Important piont is that a training gear will help you to not tip over and crash too soon so if you have a local hobby store I would advise getting one if not supplied. Good luck and Happy birthday ![]()

| Re: New member with a Hummingbird V.3 Thank you for the help Does having the elite 6 radio make a difference whether it's fixed or collective? I'm Also wondering what upgrade parts to buy first for it. Ya my wife is a good one in a few weeks she's allowing myself and our son who's 10 to buy a traxxas Stampede for him and a traxxas nitro rustler for myself. I'm Also looking at scale bodies for my hummingbird, are there any that don't require a lot of modifications? thanks again JD ![]() Last edited by heavymetal92 : 02-23-2007 at 11:00 PM. | Re: New member with a Hummingbird V.3 There is for the Elite FP, but not for the V3/4. I've not seen an Elite up close, so I don't know if parts are interchangeable with the V3. The Elite Pro (which I have), while the same size, is not interchangeable with the V4 (which I also have.) V3 and V4 are the same heli with different bodies. They made some changes on the V4 like adding a 4n1 instead of component electrics. Newer V3's may come with the 4n1 as well - not sure.
