Re: EXI 450 clone

Any particular type?

I like the look of the Wren units, I would be keen on the MW44 for helis...there is talk of this type coming out sometime.

Cost for the whole unit is around £2700:00 which seems a bit KERRRCCCHHHINGGG! but includes everything to get running...

I would be happy to get my Pred a bit more vibe free, a zenoah petrol engine cost about £270 so a turbine would be 10 times that cost.....imagine wearing out another 9 petrols!

that would be 9 generations of flying!

Re: EXI 450 clone

Yeah, That was kinda unrealistic. My real wish is for a 600 size electric with enough batteries to run it for a day. At $300 a battery that would be expensive!

Re: EXI 450 clone

I wonder just what is around the corner with battery technology.

I think the LiPo is just incredible, with a recharge time of about an hour or even a bit less with the packs I use, I am just astounded at how good they are.

Maybe a similar pack but with some crazy recharge time of 10 mins or something?

I like the nitros but the cost of fuel is silly, and those engines drink the stuff quickly too.

I wonder what new gadgets there will be over the next year?

I am very happy with this new radio of mine, I was flying my rex to extreme visual range the other evening and not a single glitch with it.

Was looking at a very intresting site, I will add the link later...if I can find it again...its a 1:25 scale electric Chinook! and its scale looking!!!!

I like the hirobo version but its too pricey for me, but this new one (prototype) looks good.

Re: EXI 450 clone

I've seen a couple of things on Chinooks that were build out of two 400 size helis. Seems pretty straight forward but hand built.
The A123 batteries have an incredible charge/recharge capability but are heavier than lipos so not the best for helis.

Re: EXI 450 clone

I have mailed the guy to get some idea of the price. If he gets it right there will be quite a demand.

I have seen the Twin Rex idea, but to be honest I would rather something that is more scale like.

Well, have a good Christmas. Must admit it doesnt feel like it, with so much doom and gloom on the news these days...oh well...thankfully there are insane hobbies about where we get to fly things around and crash them sometimes...and yearn for even more expensive things to fly

May the insanity continue!!!!

I will raise a glass or two to you and the rest of the guys here for sure!!
