450XL Combo 3550kv Motor & 25A ESC

450XL Combo with 3550kv motor and 25A ESC. worked on it last night have the head built and installed in the frame, have the motor installed it was kind of a pain. main gear and servo holders installed and skids. i took some pics i will try to post them later. you can definitly see the difference in quality compared to the DF60.
basicly all i have left is the tail and then some electronics hope to get that done tonight.

i have finally got everything trimmed out good on the trex. i had some problems with the tail but have that sorted out. i ran 2 batteries through it today the Thunderpower 2100mah and new Apex 2100mah. Man the head speed is much higher that the df60. and it is much heavier than the df60. on the cheap scale i have it overloads it but looks like 550g without the battery. i have the D/R set at 21% and the EXP at -20 and still it's touchy to fly but im getting used to it now. it has a lot more power than what im used to i set the throtte curve at 0,25,75,80,80. when you touch the throtte up it jumps into the sky. it flies nice i will recharge my batteries and hope to get some flights in tomorrow. it's a definite rush just doing some hovering and side ins.

I have one myself ... I would change that tail servo setup .... the rod need to be right down the center of the tail boom.... Oh,,, and drill out the hole the rod snaps into under the tail brace... They are all to tight .... remember ,, just drill out where the rod goes... Don't make the slot the rod goes into bigger ....
Oh,, that motor needs a 35A esc... and a heat-sink!!!!

Ya i already made the hole larger so there is no binding. you mean slide the servo on an angle to make it centered already did that. well with the 11T pinion the esc and motor seemed just warm after 15 minute flight. i will check temps next time i fly. the motor has a built in cooling fan. you burned out your 25A esc. the ESC i have came with heat sink installed.

you had me a bit worried about burning out my 25A ESC so i took some temp reading today i recorded 2 14 minute flights all just hovering and side ins. it was kinda cool out this evening around 72*F. after the first flight the motor was at 118*F and the ESC was 109*F the battery was the hottest at 124*F the second flight was about the same at motor 119*F and the ESC at 109*F and the battery at 128*. the battery seems to be whats running hot.
maybe if i run the throtte up to 100% it will make things hotter but for now it all seems ok. i did want the 35A esc. i was going to get the kit $160 and the motor and esc $94 but i found this combo package that is factory packaged for $180.

that motor really needs 35A esc so do not try high throdle with the 25A as long as you use low throdle you will not have problems but if you push it hard ........
