Another Fix For Tail Belt Shredding !!

I just wanted too share,,, I did find a fix for this very bad tail belt setup that comes with some Trex that use the plastic tail case..
Now that I know this has been a on going problem for a very long time,, ( according to that I have read on other websites.)
I had to come up with a fix ,,, or start replacing belts about ever 5 battery pack..!
I decided to see,, if I could come up with my own fix...??
Well,,, it looks like I did..
I have now put another 3 battery pack on my Trex after my fix..And everything is work great!
Here is what I came up with,,..
My belts where starting to shred so,, I took off the tail and started from the tail and worked my way up to the tail drive gear assembly..
When checking my belt,, I could see that it was installed properly ,, ok so then I took off the tail fin and tail case,,
I could see a lot of gray powder on the inside of the tail case on the same side as the lineup hole in the tail boom.
I had read about a lot of people thinking that the ideal bearing on the tail case was letting the belt rub the edge of the ideal bearing and tail case..Pinching the belt between the two of them.. I sure looked that way to me also..!
With nothing to loose I decided to see if I could move the ideal bearing over,,( to the left when standing behind the helicopter with the helicopter facing away from you.) Here is what I did,,, if you look at the tail case you will see a plastic axle that the bearing is centered too and then held in place with a screw . Take your bearing out of the case and then take a sharp blade and cut the left plastic axle shorter by about 1/16 of a inch or less.. ((I had these very small washers that just fit the size of the plastic axle and screw that holds the ideal bearing...))
Then make sure your washers are the same size (( thickness as what you cut off your axle ,,so when you put the bearing back you have the same spacing you had ,, before you made the plastic axle shorter.!)Now,, you will have to use a file to make room on the left side for your bearing to be able to move more to the left..
I filed right beside the axle on the tail case as wide as the bearing,, about 1/16 of a inch or less deeper ..
Then I used a spray called,, ( Prestone Silicone Lubricant ) and sprayed my belt and inside of tail boom. Put everything back together ,,
(( making sure you put the washers inside of the ideal bearing on the right side!!NOT ON THE SAME SIDE YOU CUT!!))
Then set your belt tension.
When putting on the tail case ,, try pushing it a little to the right side ,,as you tighten the tail case screws...
Now my ideal bearing doesn't let the belt rub and the belt is running in the center of the tail drive gear assembly...!!!
I hope this will help others !!
Dan
