Re: New Helis

what servos are you running?

aside from that, it sounds like you might have some binding. take the links off of the swash and move it with your fingers. it should move very freely...almost floppy (but not sloppy). if you move it and it sticks where you put it, you'll need to loosen up some bits. that's going to require a head teardown.

I have an SE, myself which comes prebuilt from the factory. but, with the XL you may have just overtorqued some of the screws or gotten loctite on the plastic.

Re: New Helis

Hi there, I am assuming you might be quite new to the hobby...so bear with me...this is how I set a heli up:

check your instructions....there are probably measurments for pitch rods etc...so try to get everything as accurate as possible....make sure your servos are free...remove ALL control horns...and zero the sub trim...and trim...get everything central.

put the control horns onto the servos....its best to do one servo at a time....GENTLY move the relevant control....and check you dont exceed the limits....if you do then you need to sort out the END POINT function...assuming you have a computer type radio....its vital you dont exceed the movement as this will cause the servo to be overworked....and both/either/or servo or control link could break....usually in flight...which will cause a crash.

apply the collective....up and down.....and check the cyclic controls are able to move....without straining....as the collective moves up and down there should be no interference from the cyclic control....and vice versa.

Adjust everything...bit by bit..until all control travel is nice and smooth.....if you can still wiggle the ball type joints in any position you care to put the cyclic then the system will be fine.....any tight spots will cause problems.

Time and patience is important....you will be rewarded with a heli that flys well.
