Temperature and servo links

How does weather I mean temperature affect the servo links.
Today I flew my t-rex for the first time after a month that I was playing indoors with my lama2 due to very rainy weather .Power up but the thing was almost uncontrollable brought it back luckily in one piece and found out that all the links were very stiff and 2 servos (gws) had gears problems before i fly servos were ok i did run a preflight check, the last time I flew temperature was 20 + C today it was around 0 C can it be that the stiffness is due to low temp and what do you suggest.

Re: Temperature and servo links

old man
i took my heli outside for a flight the other day, first time in ages, weather was quite damp and cold but the sun was out,it would not even lift of the ground,i dont normally have this problem,so i tried a different battery thinking it may be that...made no difference..so then i take it back indoors and try again....takes off first time no problems...so i think you have a valid point about atmospheric conditions and their impact on the working parts on helis

Re: Temperature and servo links

Temp will cause shrinking and swelling of material, especialy aluminum which is what the ball links are made of. Try loosenig the screw in the ball 1/4 to 1/2 turn, add a drop off light oil like 3 in one or something simular. This should take care of your problem. If you still have trouble try to stretch your plastic links with something smooth like the shank of a philips screwdriver.
By loosening the screws you should elimunate the binding that is intesified in cold weather and have a better flying machine. Don't forget the ball on the tail controll arm.

Re: Temperature and servo links

Thainks for the reply friends i did solve the problem, using my dremel i put a ball link on the dremel and then clip on the plastic links a few seconds in high Rpm and that did the trick no binding any more in 0 C
