Lets talk T-rex Got Questions?

I noticed I don't see a lot of people in the t rex threads .
I see a lot of people that are interested in purchasing one but dont know if they are ready . Well its a lot of work to set up . But they fly stable and can cost les to maintain . If money is not the problem this is the bird for everyone . Well everyone who wants to hover or do 3D and wants a great starter but isn't ready for nitro . I have a Blade and its a hand full to fly at times it is too sensitive to the weather and other changes . The good thing about starting with them is if you can fly a blade you can fly anything . There are some trick parts if you look hard enough the humming bird and dragon fly parts are interchangeable . Look up the reference pages on the net you will find that the humming bird billet swashplate works and make it more stable . And it looks trick I have it on Mine.
The billet blade grips work too with some modes. Im here to answer any questions you might have ...................................................Jay

Hello T- Rex Pilot,

Thanks! I am sure your comments will come in handy to T-rex future or current owners. By the way, the T-Rex is next on my “buy” list. I will let you know if I have any questions.

Re: Lets talk T-rex Got Questions?

Hi T.

Please can you answer this one .

I have a new X400 which the same as the T-REX as i am sure yo know.
I have just got al the electrics on and had my test flight.
The trouble is sometimes the heli starts to gitter and the rotar blades start on there owne without any action from the transmitter ?????.

Also the servo's seem fast enough, but when flying the heli seems slow to respond?????. and still has a mind of it's owne, so i decided to quit before any damage was caused, which is unlike me.

Regards to all that read my problems and a big thanks to all that can help.

Check your surroundings for ham radio ant's and other things that might be messing with your RF signal. if that is clear then check over your antenna wire for breaks.. also check the length. if it is short it wont be tuned for your transmitter. If thats all good then look at the routing of your ant. if it is touching metal or carbon or even power wires it can cause big problems. Remember your antenna is only as long as the last time it overlapped itself . I had my heli take off the other day in front of a store b/c of interferance from somewhere. You might want to try testing your heli somewhere else.
Now if you have gone through everything I just said and you are still having problems, take your radio to the nearest hobby shop and try another set of crystals and another channel . If after all that it still spazzes out you need to send your rec and transmitter in for calibration . I hope that helps you .
As for the jitters on your rotors-- bad ball joints, weak servos with bad tracking, along with radio interference. Your response will always be slow when your rec is getting mixed signals from other places . It is trying to figure out who is who . If you havent already installed a dual conversion receiver, look into one -- it uses two signals to make every action, but you need a dual conversion capable transmitter.
When you have time, tell me what transmitter you are using (PPM? PCM? AM? FM?) .. i might be able to help more .
Good luck,
T

Re: Lets talk T-rex Got Questions?

Hi T.

Thanks very much for the quick reply, you were so right.
The antenna was way to short and twisted up on it's self and around , this also solved the same problem with my X400.
I will be looking for a dual conversion receiver very soon, as a lot of people recommend them.
Please let me know if these transmitter are compatible with the dual receiver and what you would recommend.

JR-X2610
Futaba-T6X FF6- 50th special limited edition
Operating on 35mHz - mode 2 Fm.
Both set on PPM

Also the movement of the front and back cyclic on the heli seems a litle stiff.
I tried a little oil???? and untightened a few screws but did not help much.
Any suggestions.
Is it possible T. to get these micro heli's as stable as my Nitro models.

thanks for you time and patients, as heli pilots where I live are as rare as the dodo and the few clubs only allow a few heli pilots, this probably explains the low numbers, perhaps it's a UK thing as it would seem that the rest of the world has more interest in heli's.
Anyway that's enough moaning. Thanks..

There is a tool that opens up the ball sockets a little that can help. If the screw is going into plastic, I losen it up so just the ball can turn. Dont try it with metal to metal screws, as they will fall out . Make sure that the holes are not warn though . as the ball wears in, you can tighten it all the way .
I only recommend this for people who want to set things up and do not have the reamer tool and know how to use caution with the balls on the ball joints . Helis make a big mess if you let things come loose. Im glad I could help you . If the rear is tight on the tail linkage make sure you have the control rod straight with the boom. The straighter that is, the smoother it works . No side load . Change the z bend to a ball joint also it helps a lot . let me know how things are going when ya have time. .................................... T

Re: Lets talk T-rex Got Questions?

I'm in the process of putting together a Trex 450XL HDE (non eCCPM).
I'm having trouble installing the collective pitch arm assembly (part number HS1075). It fits exremely tight going over the frame.
Is there a secret to installing this part without breaking it ?

Thanks
Randall

Re: Lets talk T-rex Got Questions?

Sorry about the delay this site would not let me log on . Ok well it is allways tight right there with that set up you can polish the inside. The early t rex heli's had only a bushing the new set up uses bearings but it still bind a little so you might have to dremel the inside of the plastic so it clears the frame . Keep it clean and lightly oiled . You should be fine .........................T
