try this if you can? take a couple of lock nuts and put them on the muffler screws, you may have to find just the right way to put them on but they should not back off. i did this on my venture 30 and had no problems after. and just remembered my venture manual says to seal with a thin piece of alummenum(spelled wrong i know). warm it up then reset the screws
