I won a bid for 4 servos on ebay from a guy in Hong Kong a few months ago. I paid through PayPal. Never received the items to this day. |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning It's a Caliber 30. It has an OS 32 and that's about all that I know about it but I can't wait to get it and start working on it.

| Re: Main motor keeps burning The OS32 is a nice little engine, mine ran well for a long time. I broke the carb though when the engine was fitted to my old Hawk...main needle got hit when I last crashed the bird...the needle bent and started to tear the threads within the carb body...where the main needle boss is attached. Its hard to find a new carb...you can get anything else for the engine...but nothing for the carb. You can still find parts for the Caliber I would think, I liked the Nexus I had....it wasnt the most popular of helis according to a couple of forums, but mine flew well enough. The thing to watch for, if the Caliber 30 is shaft drive, is that the nexus had a shaft or a wire drive...the wire ran through 3 plastic guides that were within the tail boom....these guides could vibrate and all work down to one end of the boom...thus causing a terrible vibe with the wire drive being unsupported. The fix? to carefully measure each guides position and then drill a hole for each...lining up so a small screw could be located to secure the flange of each guide...another method is to use cardboard tube or even plastic...anything just snug enough to fit within the tube...to act as spacers to hold the guides in position. Pays to remove the wire from time to time...and lube it. I used to use some real thick gear oil..did a superb job. Rob |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Thanks Rob, The Caliber is only a couple of years old and is belt drive but the Cobra is wire drive so I'll watch it. Check out Tower Hobby for the OS parts. They might have the part you need.

| Re: Main motor keeps burning Cheers for that, I will take a look sometime. Its not urgent as I got an 0S37 for the Sceadu I fly now...I was up today but the weather and wind chill meant seriously cold fingers...managed 15 mins and that was enough ![]() I was doing an experiment using plane fuel...worked out ok...slight drop in power in some ways but I need to try it in warmer weather to see if it will be ok. The issue I faced before was getting fuel to run a nitro heli...there is plane fuel to be had as one of the main guys here is always ordering it in; as he flys planes a lot. |

| Re: Main motor keeps burning I guess we've completely hijacked this thread! LOL Oh well, What percent nitro are you using? I've been running 15% as I don't think that 30% is necessary for how I'm flying. We tried a friends plank fuel in a JR venture 30 and it wouldn't even get off of the ground! I hope that my Caliber won't need 30% as it is hard to find around here too. Cheers, Neil

| Re: Main motor keeps burning 16 percent I think, I would like the proper fuel but if this experiment brings good enough results then I will stick with it. The idea is to monitor the engine and how hot it gets. The way I look at it is that I am not running a governor on the engine, just a basic curve. Years back, I am led to believe, RC helis used plane engines and fuel anyway...I guess the later engines and higher demands that flyers place on them meant better fuel had to be created. |
