Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

Still can't figure out what that last post was about. Oh well I have the 36 together again and am waiting for the weather to break so I can test it. Still haven't flown with the CF blades.
If all of the repairs hold it should be better than before!

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

Hey Neil did you ever get that break in the wether you've been hoping?
I finely got around to finishing the bearing swap last night. With all new bearings and a thorough swash cleaning it spinning freer than it ever has before. I think I picked up a little more flight time also. When the TX timer went off it felt like there was still quite a bit of punch left in the pack. I'll have to do a little more testing to see about that.
I just narrowly avoided disaster after the rebuild though. Wile I was doing my pitch set up I saw that the blades were way off from each other. At mid stick one blade was -1 and the other was +3. After messing with the linkage for a wile trying to get the blades closer I finally found what I thought was a lose screw in one of the lower mixing arms. It turned out that the screw hole in the washout was completely striped. As I got my magnetized screwdriver close to it the screw actually backed out about half way. Can you imagine what would have happened if that thing had fallen out in flight! Luckily I had a CNC washout and mixing arm set sitting in my parts box. But its one of the blue sets. So now I have a calico looking head on the 36. Silver, black and blue. O well it fly's good.

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

I don't have to imagine. My last two crashes were caused by that exact thing! I'm thinking about going back to the plastic head.
Is that the head from RC&ME? Looks realy good and tough.

Re: Wake UP 36 PEOPLE!

You hit it right on the head (pun intended) that is the 5 piece upgrade from RC&ME. I really like their combo they took care of all the week points of the stock head with this kit. The blue washout and lower mixing arms are from the Heli Direct full CNC head. I never was happy with that setup. The washout set that was on there that striped out was the stock plastic one. I shouldn't have that problem with this one. I also like that the arms are mounted on bearings instead of the brass bushings like the stock one. Just thought the blue looked out of place on there.
