The rule of thumb for me is this:

If an average crash costs about one third the airframe cost, can you afford it?

The 450 XL trex cost about 85 quid for the basic kit...minus radio etc in other words.

So a crash could cost about 30 quid to fix...maybe more...maybe less.

Thats the rule I use.

To be honest I would get a Nitro powered heli. You get loads more airtime with one of these. I hear that Raptors are good value for money.
