Fixed pitch can be a pig to fly, you need a lot of anticipation for the up and down bit..plus you will probably end up with something that has a tail rotor powered by its own motor...these helis do fly but are rubbish.
The only fixed pitch that is half decent is the Blade CX2 type heli....the Picco Z is good as well but really is a toy...I have a Twister Bell 47 which is the same as the CX2 layout...its an indoor heli really...you need quite a large room though. For what you pay you get a lot of helicopter...plus the controls will represent how the more serious models are controlled.
With Sims you are looking at an 'ideal' world, they do help for sure...I used two very basic sims for about 10 months before buying a real model...but each sim has its qualitys. Reflex XTR is a good sim to get but if Clearview has enough features then keep using it.
