I'm an old fixed-wing flyer, but would like to learn to fly helis. I have a copy of Great Plains RealFlight G2. I know it has been replaced by newer versions, but I thought I could use the G2 to see if I could at least learn to hover with the trainer. Apparently not - or I'm really doing something wrong.
It has been a frustrating few weeks with little, if any, improvement in skill. I can fly the thing around a bit and even land without crashing, but I absolutely cannot hover the thing in one place. It keeps side slipping or flying away from me. No amount of right stick control will get the trainer to hover. And no amount of trim adjustment helps. I am a pretty smooth airplane flyer and I thought I had some degree of dexterity, but I'm frustrated to the point of giving up.
I assume the problem is all me, but I have to ask. Can the RealFlight G2 USB Interlink controller really hover a helicopter in the right hands?
Thanks for any advice anyone might have. I don't see the point in buying a heli if I can't hover the simulator.
