| Re: Main motor keeps burning The OS32 is a nice little engine, mine ran well for a long time. I broke the carb though when the engine was fitted to my old Hawk...main needle got hit when I last crashed the bird...the needle bent and started to tear the threads within the carb body...where the main needle boss is attached.
Its hard to find a new carb...you can get anything else for the engine...but nothing for the carb.
You can still find parts for the Caliber I would think, I liked the Nexus I had....it wasnt the most popular of helis according to a couple of forums, but mine flew well enough.
The thing to watch for, if the Caliber 30 is shaft drive, is that the nexus had a shaft or a wire drive...the wire ran through 3 plastic guides that were within the tail boom....these guides could vibrate and all work down to one end of the boom...thus causing a terrible vibe with the wire drive being unsupported.
The fix? to carefully measure each guides position and then drill a hole for each...lining up so a small screw could be located to secure the flange of each guide...another method is to use cardboard tube or even plastic...anything just snug enough to fit within the tube...to act as spacers to hold the guides in position.
Pays to remove the wire from time to time...and lube it. I used to use some real thick gear oil..did a superb job.
