sorry I didn't see this thread sooner. I got a V4 myself back in September. First foray into helicopters at all, but I really like the bird. I went through the same set up sequence with mine and it's now pretty stable.
Keep it low and slow and you'll find that you can begin to anticipate what the bird is going to do, thereby applying "correction" before the bird wanders off. Lots of small inputs is what it takes.
Overall it's a nice heli, as long as it's dead calm outside. A little breeze will sharpen your skills, but much more than that and it becomes unflyable. Unfortunate downside of Fixed Pitch.
Overall a good heli - parts are cheap and available, well designed and the electrics are reliable.
