Currently several other companies are on the way with new 2.4ghz systems.
Futaba has announced their entry, at around US$ 250.
Nomadio
http://www.nomadio.net that makes the Sensor and React 2.4ghz Car radios is working on 2 different 2.4ghz systems. Their Entry level system is estimated to be 7-9 channels and aprox US$ 150, funktionally similar to a Multiplex Cockpit MM. They might even use Multiplex Plastic.
And a Super system with at least 16 channels, priced in the US$ 500 range, with colour display, built in MP3 player, meybe using SD Flash cards to store both model data(Telemetry) and MP3's on.
(I have the Nomadio Sensor and am WAY coloured on their behalf)
Sanwa/Airtronics is also working on something.
