Like mrm says, you'll get it. It really does happen like a light comming on. One day you cant hover, next day you can.

As far as going backwards while maintaining altitude goes... You'll get very used to it in the heli world . In fact backwards while doing aerobatics is normal lol the hard bit is actually remembering which way the thing is going half the time . Melted cards huh. Usually when Ive been to the heli shop, the cards are so hot they burn their way out of my wallet
