The engine backplate should give you a clue.....fly around a bit....land and either switch off or let the heli idle.....and grip the rotor head firmly!!!...then place a finger tip on the engine backplate...be careful you dont get burned...the backplate might be lukewarm....or very warm but not so hot you cant keep your finger tip in place. This should give a clear indication that all is well with the engine....Too hot is too lean....the incoming mixture should keep the backplate fairly cool....excess heat is either an engine running too lean OR there might be something on the drivetrain causing excess friction....which would make the engine work harder than it should...but this is unlikely....
